About me

Our life experiences shape who we are and how we work, so...
Here’s my story!

Who am I?

My name is Virginie. I was born in France, in Isère, and I still live there.

But whilst my roots and ties remain in my native mountains, my mind has always been turned towards the world, travels and foreign cultures. But that’s not all! Words, communication and meaning have played an important part in my life for… as long as I can remember.

Ever since my secondary school years and my first language lessons, I have developed a genuine passion for foreign languages and cultures, and more specifically for English and the English-speaking world. I indulged this passion during my weekends and holidays by translating, on my own, songs, books, or any text that interested me at the time.

It was only natural that I should continue my studies in this field: once I had obtained my A-levels (with English, Spanish and Italian as my chosen foreign languages), I opted for a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature, which I completed in 2003, having spent my final year of the course in the UK – in Nottingham, to be precise – as part of the ERASMUS programme.

Whilst my initial aim was to become a translator in the audiovisual sector, financial realities caught up with me, as I had neither the means nor the necessary funding to pursue that path. It was therefore out of necessity, and in order to enter the world of work, that I undertook and completed a HND (Executive Assistant). I held this role for several years, notably in robotics and microelectronics companies, where my fluency in English proved to be a real asset. I translated numerous emails, as well as more technical documents, such as technical manuals and other user guides then.

A few years later, I met the love of my life and another reality caught up with me: I became the mother of a child born with a serious genetic condition: cystic fibrosis. My job as an executive assistant was no longer compatible with my new life and my role as a mum and carer. On the advice of a friend, and drawing on both my degree in English and my experience in the corporate world, I decided to return to my first love: translation. So I set up my own translation business in 2015.

Over the last ten years, I have therefore divided my time between being a mum, running my own business and volunteering with the national charity organisation fighting cystic fibrosis in France: Vaincre la mucoviscidose. These three aspects of my life reflect who I am today: a committed, determined woman who proudly champions the values of humanity, solidarity, active listening and teamwork. These are values that I also uphold in my professional life, working hand in hand with my clients in a spirit of collaboration so that we can move forward together.

Because resting on my laurels has never been part of my vocabulary, and given that the translation market is currently undergoing significant and rapid changes (computer-assisted translation, the advent of AI, etc.), I decided to showcase my skills and, in a way, validate them by taking the translator’s certification course offered by the Edvenn Institute. I graduated in 2026 with the highest honours. This diploma represents the culmination of all those years of hard work and the passion I have for my profession.
